Privacy

Gay Youth UK's aims leave us committed to providing a safe environment for those who visit our site and register with our services. Therefore we would like to lay down the lengths we go to to protect your privacy and to detail the information that we keep on those who visit our site.

IP Addresses

You may not know it, but surfing the Internet is not as anonymous as you might think. Every time you log on to the net a series of connections are made which can be traced back to an address assigned to your computer by your ISP, this address is called an IP Address. In the interest of safety we log these addresses at a few stages: every time you grab a page from the site the address is noted for a period of time (a couple of days), but when you make a post, send an email via one of our forms, or participate in a poll, your IP Address will be logged more permanently.

The reason that we keep these logs is in your best interest, we keep them to prevent abuse against our service and it's members. If abuse occurs we can use the IP address to work with the necessary authorities to identify those involved.

Cookies

Where we usually associate user preferences with your account and keep them on our server, it is occasionally necessary to store them on your computer in the form of a cookie. We never use cookies to store personal details on your computer - they are also not indicative of this site in any way.

Information submitted

Information submitted to Gay Youth UK is kept within Gay Youth UK. We store all manner of information about our users, from sexuality, to messages, to where they live; this information is used to produce a service tailored to the individual, and will never be sold or distributed, in any form, to third party companies.

Gay Youth UK provides several ways to communicate with other members. We stress that members should take the utmost caution when revealing their email address or other personal information to other members and that if you do so, you should not within a publicly accessible area (such as when commenting on content, when making posts in the forum or when using our chat rooms). The information posted on these services is monitored heavily.

External links

External links are incorporated quite liberally into Gay Youth UK's content and look exactly like any other link. You can tell the difference between an external and an internal link by either hovering over it and viewing it's URL in the status bar or, if you have your status bar hidden, by right clicking a link and selecting properties from the context menu. Any link that does not begin with one of our domains (gyuk.co.uk, gyuk.org.uk or gayyouth.org.uk) is a link to an external site. Gay Youth UK cannot vouch for content or privacy policies of external sites, so always be sure to check their privacy policies page.
