35 years after Britain's first ever Gay Pride march, Pride London has confirmed today that the 2007 parade will return to Oxford Street again after the success of last year's event.

Last year crowds of over half a million packed the streets of London to watch the spectacular parade of celebrities, floats, and performers celebrating Europe’s largest gay and lesbian festival.

This year’s confirmed route will once again include West End’s world renowned Oxford Street and Regent Street, and take in iconic landmarks including Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and Piccadilly.

So Where's My Gay Guy Best Friend When I Need One?

Hi there. Some of you may know me from the forum (I’m the deluded, China-obsessed one). My name is Tom, and I’m…. NOT an alcoholic, no, heaven forbid. But I am homophobic. Well, not homophobic to the ignorant, bigoted fundamentalist sense of the word (but you have to admit, without them “lovelies”, none of this gay comedy would exist. Do we humans love controversy or what?). What I go through, how I react… If I lashed out on the forum and let rip, I could be classed as homophobic.

Pride

Gay Pride has originated from gay people rising against oppression and actually getting out onto the streets and shouting out to the world that we do, as LGBTQ people, exist. It all started with the Stonewall riots in 1969; the Stonewall Inn being a popular gay venue in New York where there was an uprising alliance of LGBTQ people against the police who were targetting them with abuse.

Today Pride events in some form are held in many large cities around the world, including the United Kingdom.

Transition

A mix of opinion, fact, jokes, fears, reality and the good moments

When I started university I was still a guy. Sure, I had (very) long hair and was openly derisive of masculinity but I was still a guy called (this hasn’t ever been my real name by the way) Marcus Dennis. I was so much of a guy that my nickname (never used to my face) was “the scary weird bi guy”. It wasn’t, and still isn’t, a gay friendly place - probably something to do with 90% of the students being male and it being in a small town in the midlands which at the time didn’t even have a gay bar

Trans

Gender queer, transsexual, transgender, cross dressers.

Sexuality

Sexuality is a fluid concept. No one term can truly define it. It can be a difficult thing to define, especially in your early teenage years. Many teenagers go through a phase questioning their sexuality, so it is quite normal if this is how you are feeling! Figuring out what your sexuality is about how you feel inside as a person, not the result of gathering evidence. It is quite normal for you to on occasions be sexually attracted to people of the same gender and not be gay!
